So I’ve been doing this blogging thing for a while now, but definitely haven’t been giving it my all. Since I’m on maternity leave now I thought it’d be a good time to see if I could get it off the ground. So last week, I joined Twitter – you can find me here @lifeintheginger – and would you believe it, my blog views have shot up & I’ve even been nominated for an award! The Blogger Recognition Award, to be exact, and my nomination comes thanks to the lovely Maria over at The Southerner Blogs.
I’m reliably informed that there are rules that go along with this award so just to keep me right I’ll post them here:
Rules for the Blogger Recognition Award
- Write a post about your award
- Thank whoever nominated you, including a link to their blog
- Give a brief story of how your blog began
- Share some advice for new bloggers
- Nominate 10 other blogs you wish to give the award to – include this in your post and tag them on twitter
- Leave a comment on this blog post
Maria shares her adventures on her blog & I particularly love her recent Amsterdam Diaries . She is a CBT therapist and I love that she shares her knowledge but also offers her support to anyone/everyone who may be reading her blog. She has been nothing but supportive since I started my Twitter account and I’m loving reading her posts everyday.
Life In The Ginger Lane is the latest in a long line of blogs I have started over the years. I’ve always had the best of intentions but haven’t written more than one or two posts – when I didn’t receive immediate success my younger self was disheartened and tended to put it on the back burner for a while. I finally decided to give it a proper go after my first son, Connor, was born 4 years ago. I think this particular blog has been running a little over 2 years? But again, life got in the way and writing got shoved out. I’ve never known what I wanted to do with my life, but somehow I always find my way back to writing. It’s what I love, and it’s something I like to do and it helps me process whats going on in my head and make sense of a lot of the junk I have stored away in there – whether I’m good at it or not is another story! After having my second son earlier this year I realised just how much I hate my day job and how much I want to write for a living, so that’s exactly what I’m trying to do. Whether it works or not is anybody guess, but I’ll give it a bash :)!
The only advice I can give to a new blogger is to keep writing and give it a chance, don’t give up at the first hurdle. Which is advice that I really need to listen to myself! Also, Twitter has been so great for driving traffic to my blog, the difference in just a week is crazy!
I really don’t think that I know 10 bloggers but I’ll do my best!
Okay, so 4 is the best I’ve got!
